Bad Company 2 beta will come to PC on January 28th and will run for 4 weeks. Further details will come later. For now mark the date on your calender

Pre-order from Play.com and have access to the beta from this friday onwards, I may pre-order this try beta if it is carp then cancel pre-order.

pre-order from play and get the beta, and pre-order from game and get the unlocks version. if it's good cancel the play pre-order and if crap cancel both

Cool! So the gamemode available in beta should be Rush (see latest vid). So we need at least 2 more to get a beta key to make a proper squad

DICE has been promoting Bad Company 2 as the opposite of Modern Warfare 2, bragging about BC2's dedicated servers
and more recently, DX11 graphics. However, things may not be quite as rosy as they appear. A thread in the EA UK forums for BC2 mentions that the PC port of the game will lack console support. DICE says that the game lacks console support in order to prevent hacking.

In other Bad Company 2 news comes word from Eurogamer that the game's dedicated server support isn't as it appears. Server admins won't be able to build and host their own dedicated servers, instead you'll have to rent them. DICE says the files needed to run dedicated servers are being withheld in order to "protect the game's integrity on PC". They went on to say: "This does not earn DICE a profit," BFBC2 Van Dyke told us. "But we will see where the game goes and support it post launch."

Supposedly the servers are going to be strategically located throughout the world in order to deliver optimal ping for all gamers.

doesn't sound much like iwnet at all really does it..............what have we got to be worried about

Lack of console is unfortunate but i dont think it'll have any influence on the gaming experience.

Dedi server system is exactly the same as it was with ranked servers for bf2142. It will be just like normal dedicated servers only you will not have full access to all server files. You will have full access to server cfg files etcetera.

This system is to prevent people being able to run a hacked server you could play on with an illegal copy of the game. Only a few trusted hosting companies will get the servers dedicated files to rent out servers. I just hope pricing for these servers will be reasonable.
